Update on Covid providing information on prevalence and hospital admissions for England and its regions. This post is best viewed using the browser or Substack app.
SARS COV 2 is not as transmissible as flu. Flu is highly transmissible which is why it is very winter dominant. In winter, people quickly build up immunity to flu and flu is practically gone outside of winter. By contrast, SARS COV 2 is not very transmissible, so people don't build up a lot of immunity to it so it lingers and circulates at low levels throughout the year.
It's a good thing SARS COV 2 deaths dropped quite a bit this week compared to last week. 0.6% of deaths compared to 0.8% of deaths. Part of that could be due to reduced testing but I think part of the reason could be due to continued loss of severity of SARS COV 2.
Thanks so much for putting this really helpful information together for us all every week.
Thank you so much and thanks also for the variant update.
Thanks as ever for the update as ever. Much appreciated. Forewarned is forearmed for (Sep in Oz &) Hong Kong in Oct - which seems reasuring. 😁
🙏
Great to see covid levelling off! Looks safe to book an eye test unless that new mutation arrives...

Beware - this account spreads misinformation.
