Thanks Bob. Yes, sudden flurry of anecdotal reports locally in last few days in community in NE/Northumberland among active older middle-aged. Nothing serious as yet and people taking sensible avoiding action.

As a 78 year old with heart problems I find these reports very useful. A new problem is appearing. Surgeries are open to all and we now have younger unvaccinated unmasked patients. No hepa filters. Last autumn flu and covid large queue out surgery building! 20 minutes shuffling along in queue I was only person masked. Looks like next vaccine will be useless for current strain. So is it worth the risk of getting vaccinated?

Do the figure for vaccination stats include those who had their vaccinations privately via Pharmadoctor, and in particular Novovax

Susan,

The vaccination numbers only cover those given by the NHS as the private vaccinations are not entered onto the NHS database. I have not been able to find any data on the private vaccinations but suspect that the number is relatively small compared to the NHS doses administered.

This doesn’t surprise me. Family and friends don't seem bothered anymore. It’s very frustrating since many can afford to have a private vaccine. In addition the Govt ought to be offering spring vaccines to everyone and communicating effectively to encourage all. Seemingly none of them seem interested in public health!
